I like my comedy blue. The more offensive, the better if you ask me. Movies like Groove Tube when it comes to sex, and shows like Family Guy, Southpark, Drawn Together and Code Monkeys all try to push some boundaries. I love it! Being funny and clever is hard to do. Make it offensive at the same time while STILL being funny and clever is even harder. Maybe someone should tell that to the makers of this flick.
This movie is a gumbo of different story archs all trying to tie together. We get tons of wannabe offensiveness, but none of it equates to laughs. Hell, I wasn’t even offended. Maybe I’ve become jaded over the years, but this was just boring.
It was all stereotypes in the movie. We get a Jewish friend who’s cheap (Zing!), a black faced Al Jolson type that speaks ebonics (Ka-Pow!), some Polish handy men who can’t do anything right (Yowza!), a cop who wears a Nazi uniform (My side hurts!) and tons of breaks with “girl next door” types of women taking their tops off. Booyah!!!! There seemed to be just one thing missing. What could it be? Oh yeah! It wasn’t funny and very lame. What we “lucky” viewers get is horrible acting, no plot, looooong break-aways of women dancing over heavy metal music and that is all. Don’t even get me started on the “CGI” that will make your eyes bleed.
Look, if someone puts on blackface and stands there saying “Yessum”, that doesn’t mean it will be funny. Ask Ted Danson and he’ll tell ya. If a person puts on a Nazi uniform, that doesn’t make it offensive or funny. Watch the Nazi episode of Always Sunny in Philadelphia to see how you do Nazi garb right. Hell, even the women dancing for 6 minutes at a time with heavy metal music in the background was boring. It was like an overly long commercial for Girls Gone Wild. The girls looked like some of my ex girlfriends. If my exes stood there and danced like this for 6 straight minutes, then….well, they would still be my ex girlfriends, only quicker. I never thought dancing, topless girls could be boring. I have been proved wrong.
You have to have balls to call your movie The Most Offensive Comedy Ever Made. I’ll give the makers that. Hell, I could come out with a movie called “The Greatest F’n Movie That You Will Ever See In Your Life, And After Watching This Movie You Will Mess Your Pants From Pure Brilliance”, but then I will need to back it up.
Let’s break the movie down further. The movie isn’t exactly offensive. I’ve seen the same cheap jewish character in numerous movies and black jokes are all over the cinemas. So now we have The Most Comedy Ever. Scratch comedy because it is plain boring and not funny. That leaves us with The Most Ever Made. More accurate title, but I guess it doesn’t have the same ring to it.
Bottom line, do what these guys did. Take your little Hi-8 camera, grab some friends and try to be funny. Actually, people do that. They just don’t waste the time putting their unfunny shit on DVD and just post their crap on You Tube.
