As a comic geek, I am really excited about movies this year. Not only is "Elektra" currently in theaters, but in June "Batman Begins" comes out and "The Fantastic Four" comes in July. The geek in me couldn't be happier, which is pretty much all of me. This movie did a really good job ushering in the new comic movies.

As most people know, this movie is a spin off of "Daredevil." I've never read any reviews for "Daredevil" but I heard they all were bad. I actually really like "Daredevil." I thought Ben Affleck made a really good Matt Murdock and the whole movie was well planned out, but I'm not reviewing "Daredevil," I'm reviewing "Elektra." I really like Jennifer Garner, I've recently gotten into "Alias" and she is really a great actress, by the way, she's from WV, which is always a plus in my book, did I mention she's freakin' hott. She plays this part so well, although it does feel a little like Sydney is just taking on another alias.

As far as the plot, I've never read an Elektra comic. I know I just broke the heart of every comic fan reading this who thought they had someone to relate to, but I am a big fan, just not really Elektra, sorry. Anyway, the reason I bring this up, I can't say how close the plot was to the original source. It felt very comic book, with the super villains, Elektra was awesome as a super hero, and as the movie progressed, some of those powers were awesome. The story wasn't really hard to follow, the plot points were just revealed to us a little at a time, which was good, I didn't figure out the whole movie in the first half hour.

The supporting actors did a good job. I think they were mostly unknown, but they weren't just random people thrown in there. They all carried their parts rather well. I didn't see anybody who stood out as the worst actor of the movie. One scene that justified the ticket price was when Typhoid, who kills people by kissing them, and Elektra kiss. It would be so much nicer if Elektra wasn't dying in the process. But, I would say this movie had a very strong cast.

Over all, I really liked this movie. I wasn't sure if it was true to the comics, but even if it wasn't, I don't think they would mind too much. Even if it wasn't entirely true, it isn't a smudge on the comic world's window *cough*Batman & Robin*cough*. I would say go see this movie if your looking for something different. If your a fan of "Alias" go see it now, you'll love this movie. For the great acting, strong story, and comic background I would give this movie 4 out of 5 cans.
