Shock Cinema Collection Vol. 3 & 4
This appears to be a variety show of sorts, highlighting all that is dark and twisted in our souls. Actually it seems to cover about 4 -7 specific Tempe Entertainment films. Highlighting such classics as Robot Ninja and Dr. Alien. The whole show is apparently directed by and hosted by Brinke Stevens which is never a bad thing.
Volume three stole the show with the first fifteen minutes alone. The first section was titled T & A, and that’s exactly what you got. They showed some goofy scenes, mixed in with some intense scenes. In all scenes their was more gratuitous nudity then I could shake a stick at. This section ranks an eight out of ten on the wack-a-meter. This entire DVD is worth it for just this part.
Of course this was other stuff on this disk, not that you’d notice. The T & A section is immediately followed by a Gore section to give you that true cold shower experience. The gore is sick and twisted and insane as always. The special effects could always use some work but that’s minor as were obviously all here to watch total carnage.
This is followed up by a lot of interviews and behind the scenes stuff. Some of the interviewees of note were of course JR Bookwalter and Melissa Moore. Those were in turn followed by some lesser known people in the industry background you may not be familiar with.
Volume 3 was entirely eye candy. The vast majority of time was filled up with clip scenes and trailers. There was some more robust content towards the end, but it was light. Now Volume 4 had all the heavy duty behind the scenes stuff and the interviews. These two pieces complemented each other perfectly.
All in all this is a good disk to sit around and watch with friends. I would think that it would make a good starter film for your home viewing parties. It flows from clip to clip and it’s not like you have to maintain strict attention on the plot. It would be a good one to pop in when everyone is getting settled in and grabbing their beer and nachos and whatnot before you screen your main feature.
