Rachel Grubb
Rachel acts and directs, and digs John Waters. How can you not love her?

You look familiar...where have I seen you before?
You’ve may have seen me in “The Monster Of Phantom Lake.” It’s a fun spoof of low budget 50’s drive-in horror movies. It played at several film festivals across the country, and is now available on DVD. I’m also on Brutal Hardcore Beauties, and I am an official Flesh Farm model.

What's your favorite Christmas movie?

I have to go with “A Christmas Story.” At least one cable network, maybe more, plays that movie in a loop over Christmas break, and you can turn on your TV set any time of day, and be right in the middle of it! I never get tired of that movie.

Another good one is, “Christmas Evil.” It is famous for being John Waters’ favorite holiday movie, and how could I not take a recommendation from John Waters?

Do you cook around the holidays, or let other people do the work?

I spend holidays with my family, and my mother is a great cook. My dad and I don’t cook, but we like to make sushi. We always eat a big dinner on Christmas Eve, and a full brunch on Christmas day. My mom once served us fish sticks and mac and cheese on Christmas Eve, because she thought we didn’t care about dinner, and we never let her hear the end of it! We still give her crap about it when we sit down to eat.

On Christmas day, we all get a Christmas cracker with our brunch. For those who have never seen a Christmas cracker, it’s a Christmas tradition that originated in the UK. A cracker basically looks like a piece of wrapping paper rolled up and tied at both ends. You pull the ends, it goes POP! and a little plastic toy, like a crackerjack prize, and a paper crown comes out.

Any particular tunes get you in the Christmas spirit?

I like to listen to John Lennon’s “Happy Christmas (War Is Over).” It’s one of my favorites. Also, “Christmas With The Devil” by Spinal Tap!

Do you shop through the year, or last minute rush?

Oh, last minute rush, for sure! I’m always so busy working on movies during the year that I never have time to shop. I usually take one day out just before Christmas and go shopping without a list. I wait for the right gift to present itself…and it always does.

We're having drinks with Santa later, any one particular gift we should tell him you want?

See if he can pull some strings and get them to release a special edition of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. With all the deleted scenes, and audio commentary. Tell him I’d be happy to buy it myself. Just to have that release would be enough of a present for me!

Snow: makes the spirit bright, or cold white death?

Cold White Death, and I mean that in a good way. I think of snow all over the tree branches and the ground, and I think of all the sweet photo shoots and movie shoots you could do with that! I’m shooting a horror movie in January, and there are a lot of exterior shots. I think it’s going to be great!

Working on any cool projects you can tell us about?

Yes! The one I’m filming in January is called, “The Spooner Sisters.” The script is by Joshua LeSuer, and JP Wenner will be directing. I play Jacklyn Spooner, and Heather Amos is playing my sister Mona. The story reminds me of something like Ginger Snaps or May, which I love. I’ve worked with JP Wenner on some horror shorts in the past, and I’m very excited to have a lead role in his first feature.

I recently completed a horror film called, “13 Hours In A Warehouse.” I had a great time working on that! I got to work with Crist Ballas who did the special effects makeup, and that was awesome. The director has a rough cut done, and it looks great! It will be available soon.

I’m also in another horror feature called, “Tales Of The Dead” from Haunted Autumn Productions. It’s five short stories put together into a feature length film in the style of old school horror. I play a lead role in “The Reckoning of the Werewolf” segment, and a supporting role in “Walpurgisnacht.” I also served as casting director for the film. Tim and Lisa Rasmussen from Haunted Autumn were both so cool, and I hope I get to work with them a lot more in the future.

I’m almost done directing my first feature film, a dark comedy called, “Why Am I In A Box?” I wrote it myself, and I’m producing it with my friends, Brooke Lemke and Heather Amos. Haunted Autumn Productions did the special effects makeup for us. It’s the first project from our all female production company, Silent-But-Deadly Productions.

How do you REALLY feel about carolers?

They are fine, as long as they don’t start before Thanksgiving, and give it a rest after Christmas.

I've got some mistletoe I was going to sneak above the door before you left, should I even bother, or will you pretend you don't see it and scurry out of here like the last girl?

Of course you should bother! It’s Christmas! Why not?

Have you been naughty or nice this year?

I have to say, I think I have been rather nice. I’ve been directing a feature film, which is a lot of work, and very stressful, but I haven’t flipped out on anybody yet. The characters I’ve been playing have been pretty naughty, though, so I figure that evens out!

What's the all-time greatest TV Christmas special?

I’m tempted to say “Star Wars,” but I think I’m going to have to go with “Rudolph.” We used to tape that and watch it year round when I was a kid.

Screw all the Whos in Whoville...any final words for all the Bums in Bums Corner?

Merry Christmas, everyone, and don’t drink too much eggnog! Thanks so much for supporting Scream Queens year round!
